I'm just curious to hear everyones opinion. I always hear people saying the small block chevy is the best motor when it comes to dollar per horsepower or cost to make them faster... But the same goes for small block fords... Whats your take on it? Discuss! :)

sbc's have stronger blocks from oem while the ford motors only handle up to 500hp (iirc :dontknow: ).

As for bang for the $, i don't think theres really much difference as theres plenty of parts availability for both.

Chevy motors are extremely cheap to build, fuck you can by forged 383 assemblies for 600 bucks.. heads for under a grand that flow damn good.

but.. for some reason my buddy who has a nicly built up chevy 355 in a 80's maro cant catch my lil junk yard 302 in my stang.

i think he has over 10k in his car by now and i think i have less than 4000 in my entire car and set-up..

motor to motor hes behind by .4tenths
bottle to bottle hes behind a full second on the same increase.

I've always found ford motors like boost and spray better than SBCs, but SBCs are nasty all motor by comparison.
