Free anti virus/spyware?

Quick question for you PC guys. My McAfee subscription just ran out and I was wondering if there is any FREE programs that will do just as good/better job?

most viruses come in from visiting websites. A good firewall and uptodate browser will do 99% of the work avoiding viruses. Very few come in from downloading files unless you are downloading hacked software.
 
avast free version 5.0 best rated anti-virus program out there. AVG is good but runs alot of resources. Avast out scored macafee and norton.

DO NOT USE McAfee!!!! Ive had so many problems on peoples computers who use McAfee! It is one of the worst anti-virus programs out there. They don't pickup anything and they hog system resources and cause weird slow down problems.
 
When I was a Windows user, I always ran Avast without issues. It seemed to catch everything.
 
I'd go with AVAST over AVG. the last few free versions have basically sucked and when I want it to stop running it keeps hoging resources. .
 
As an gold AVG reseller for years I have to say that its a good product BUT over the years its gotten bloated a bit (like others mentioned here).

Right now im thinking of switching to avast.
 
Avast and Malwarebytes

I have never had a virus on my computer..well my laptop that is. My desktop had several while I had a couple people living with me and using it....I'm not naming names..Eric and Nick :roll:
