fox body testing heater core and evap core

1) OK, so I've got this torn down because I knew it needed a heater core. I figured I could test the new heater core by filling it with water and putting very light air pressure (20 psi max) into it and cover the other hole with my finger. If no leaks then it's good. Is this a good method?

2) For the EVAP core, I am going to put a new one in because the old one was all oily and heck, it's 23 year old. How can I test my new evap core to make sure it's good? I don't want to have to take this thing apart ever again, if possible.

3) Lastly, who can I go to for honest A/C work once this thing is back on the road in the spring. In other words, I don't want to spend a grand when all I really need is a couple of o-rings.

Thanks for the input.

Just hook up the heatercore back to the heater hoses, and lay it under the hood, let the motor get up to operating temp.

As far as testing the new evap, why? Just have some faith, plus the only way to test it would be to evacuate and re-charge the system and check your pressures and temp
