Fox Body 5.0 over heating Help!!!!

I recently purchased a supercharged stang and now I am having some problems :(

First off it had itty bitty 24lb injectors but i recently upgraded those with some 38lb and a matching MAF.

Before I did the injectors it was running rough and getting to 230 and beyond according to my sunpro guage(weeks old).
I replaced the injectors thinking maybe it was running to lean and getting hot that way. Well its still getting hot just not as fast. I replaced the theromostat with a 160 degree stat(also weeks old) from autozone.
As far as cooling goes it has the mishomoto radiator and 19lb cap. The fan is bolted directly to the water pump, no clutch. Coolant level is good and as far as I can tell its circulating coolant. I googled something about reverse flow water pumps as well. If you are standing at the front of the car, the fan is spinning counter clockwise. I ran it for a while with the cap off after doing the thermostat to attempt to bleed the system since I didn't see a bleed valve. I am fairly new to mustangs but not to working on cars and this one has me stumped. Any 5.0 gurus that want to help, the help would be greatly welcome. Thanks in advance!

Put a 180 theromostat or a stock one in, your running open loop and the fluid has no time to cool.

it does over heat at speed. just not as fast. i am picking up a couple electric fans today and goign to see how that works

Well I threw a single electric fan on it and it stays much much cooler. Still heats up just idling in the garage but I am going to try and fit another fan somewhere on it and hope for the best.!

Which side did you put the fan on? Pushing thru the radiatior? (closest to bumper) Or pulling through? (closest to engine) Best bet is to pitch the engine driven fan and mount the fan on engine side to pull through the radiator. Use a thermostatically controlled switch, (comes on at XXX temperature, shuts off at xxx temp) this works the best. FWIW, most any car will get fairly hot just idling in the garage or in traffic for long periods of time, as long as it stays cool going down the road you are fine.....

A car only needs a fan while stopped and below 25 mph. If it over heats at speed i would look at a couple of other things. It could be a plugged radiator or semi plugged t-stat. Water pump could be bad as well.
Another thing that gets over looked is the age of the hoses. i have seen the bottom hose go soft and close due to the water pump sucking it closed. A quick fix is to go to an auto parts store and get a spring that comes in some lower hoses and insert it into the bottom hose.

Most important: never mix an electrical fan with a mechanical fan. It will sometimes cause a rsonance which makes the air go back and forth across the radiator which doesnt allow the air to do its job at cooling.

i had issues with my fox s/c'd stang and i went with a 3 core radiator, twin fans from a ford contour,a high flow waterpump,a waterpump pulley from a 93 cobra because the diameter is smaller than stock 5.0,i also forgot to mention i have a switch to turn on the fans at 180 and i just keep them running.water wetter in the radiator, and i have a 16psi cap.on the hottest days it'll run about 195.never once did it get to 210.i did all this over the course of a year.

no trans cooler. i ended up getting a electric fan off a member here and slapped in on. its a puller fan and i just have it wired to a switch. it seems to be working great. runs really cool on the freeway and anything that isnt stop and go traffic. still does alright in most slower moving traffic. thanks for the help!

Would a trans cooler in front of the radiator keep temps high? I have a similar problem with my 90 LX automatic with 4:10's and a stall converter. I'm going to try a 160 thermostat and if that doesn't help, add a fan. I never considered that a trans cooler might be a part of my problem.

Bad idea. Ive seen those overheat and cause fires. The plastic can get so hot it will begin to melt. Wire it to a relay and do it right.

i just had a problem with overheating with my motor..9.5:1 351 with heads, cam , c4 trans 9.5 convertor 3800 stahl nothing crazy.....tried everything. big fan big rad., nothing would bring the temp down..i talked to my machinist, and he said that a tranny operats between 180 to as high as 240. and he said if you are tring to cool your rad. with 240 degree air.....it isnt going to work that well.....i moved my cooler......and 175-185 all day long
