Some radios require you to enter a code that came with the car when you bought it. I didn't think they implemented this on that old of a vehicle but that's what it looks like to me. You have to punc the code in using the preset buttons. Was the battery recently disconnected or was the radio removed? That radio may be junk if you can't find the code.

yes we un hooked the battery to do a starter. i am able to punch numbers in but i dont know what the code is. i thought i remember it being something about the serial number of the radio or something but im not sure

The code is not going to match any number on the vehicle. They do that so the person that steals the radio can't use it unless they have the code from the dealer. The only thing you can maybe do is call the ford dealer and tell them you need an unlock code for your vehicle. If the radio is the original that came with it they may be able to look it up by the vin. Or the S/N on the radio. Some radios you actually had to send in to be unlocked. They would take the radio, make sure it has been reported stolen, and then send it back to you with the unlock code. You might be better off getting a cheap new radio...just my .02

yea thats what im thinking too. it just sucks because of the factory premium sound, you gotta buy like 25 bucks worth of adapter harnesses...lol
