Ford Focus RS

If the rumors are true, I want one sooooo badly. Anyone on the inside know what the pricing is going to be (approximately) for this once it comes out? I'm assuming it's going to be more than I can afford, but I'm holding out hope it'll be sub-30k, or at least sub-35k. With limited availability, though, I'm not seeing that happening, which makes me a sad panda.

We’ve known that the Ford Focus RS was coming for a while. Our early reports suggested that it would feature all-wheel drive and that it would be powered by the same 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine found in the Mustang. Expected power from this turbocharged four-pot was up to 350bhp.

What we didn’t know for sure was if the new RS was going Stateside. Now, we can confirm this to be true, thanks to a press release which states:

‘Ford today confirmed it will be launching an all-new Focus RS – the ultimate performance version of the world’s best-selling global nameplate. The company announced that the all-new RS will be made available to customers in major markets around the world for the first time.’
On top of its global confirmation, the new Volkswagen Golf R rival’s confirmation isn’t the only nugget of news, as Ford also said that more than 12 new performance vehicles will be launched by 2020.

Ford’s new global team - which combines the expertise of Team RS, Ford SVT, and Ford Racing - will work together in developing new cars and accessories, including power upgrades, aero tweaks and weight reduction.

The new RS will likely be built in Europe and shipped overseas meaning that markets such as America will probably only have Focus RS models in very limited supply… but supply nonetheless.

They don't seem to know the answer to that definitively. If FWD, they better put a fucking limited slip in this one. You'll definitely know who can drive based on the 1/4 mile times people run with them if FWD too.

I've owned a 350whp FWD turbo car...not a whole lot of confidence there. Like...is it going to go in a straight line or are we going to do a skewed burnout into a ditch kind of thing.

It HAS TO BE AWD in order to compete. We don't need just a hotter ST. They need to tap into the WRX/evo/VW market. Sounds like fun!

With electric power steering and the brake control things in cars now they can do a pretty stellar job of hiding torque steer. I agree that the car should be AWD but that doesn't mean it will be.

Modern AWD systems have shrunk in size. There's gotta be a suitable option that Ford already uses that will fit without significant modification.

Smaller AWD systems don't do shit though and in an enthusiast car people are going to notice that it isn't really doing anything. Reference, the video the Swedish moose test people released of the CRV

Can't give details but I think the market will be quite pleased with this one. I've driven a couple. They're a blast.

The two cars I think of the the WRX and STI. The WRX is really not badly priced for what you get, the the STI is just to much to spend on a compact daily driver that does poorly in the MPG department.

Agreed, $42k for a loaded STI isn't worth it. 300hp and 23 mpg highway, I cant see it being the best deal out there. And I was looking at getting one.
