Forced induction on a street car.

I am going to do a car for my wife to drive to work and around town for fun. She will take it to the trake a few times. Car is a fox body mustang. I have a "On 3 performance" turbo kit with around 10-15 miles on it. It came with a car I bought. I have no clue on what I am doing with a turbo. I was thinking that maybe I should just get a Vortech kit and be done with it? I have a DSS 306, cam, GT40 heads so far. I still need a upper and lower intake. Car will be a 5-speed for her.

http://www.on3performance.com/ with this kit I have a PMAS meter, 42#inj.

I have always liked the vortech superchargers, any opinions???

Yea, if you already have it just use it, turbos are very efficient but they come on hard, can she handle instant power?

She was running low 12's at 16 when we started dating, At 19 she had a brand new CBR 600. She is 32 now and has run a ton of cars. Not sure what fox I would do for her though. I am so green on turbos, that is why I have been thinking about trading it for a vortech. I should have the motor done in a few weeks so I got time to make up my mind.

Id use the turbo since you already have it. Tuning and street manor wise, ive seen some horrible situations with both but I can also say that ive seen turbo cars run 100% like stock. I cant say ive seen as many blower cars do the same (of course depends on the setup).

what tuning device are you going to use?

been doing some research on the on3performance turbo kits. apparently they are pretty new, but one thing alot of people have been saying bad about them is that the hot side piping, headers ect are made of ss 304 which is prone to cracking and fatigue. now noone that has this kit has said anything about the headers cracking yet, but apparently over time they will. they look like pretty decent kits for only 1500 otd. Im considering purchasing one, and for 500+rwhp and 600tq Id say they make some pretty good power

I was reading all that on the corral too. Everybody that has the kit likes it. People that say the headers crack do not own the kit?

So does 304 stainless steel crack easy? This is the new kit they have so you can use the front swaybar.

I have a 5 position chip for the A9l.

I really dont have any experience with them myself but always like to read up on the stuff before I buy it. Always seems like someone has to talk shit about new stuff. I just personally think its people that are mad that spend 6k on a kit and are mad that a 1500 kit works just as well. I'd say go for it and put that bitch on, and let us know how it performs. Im thinking about getting that kit over the winter with the mp turbo upgrade.

Have them checked and then when you put everything together take it to a shop like CARS or STENOD and have them weld a brace in for the turbo. That should help with the cracking issue.

Stay with the turbo!

Stay turbo! It runs like a stock small block when driving easy and cruising (no belt to turn). And if you want the extra power, just lean into it and feel that freight train coming on! Plus nothing puts a smile on your face like that turbo screaming. :D

I have twins that went on 21k miles ago. I had it tuned by a member on here (who has done turbo mustangs) and couldn't be happier. I still get 17/24mpg driving the car with the 60lb injectors I have.

stay turbo much more efficient and uses much less fuel than a sc setup...if you need any tubing modifications or any type of fab work let me know...i been doing cars outta my garage all summer, send me a pm

by the way...i went through 3 sc setups before switching to turbo...best move i ever made
