Alright, here it goes. Finally got another motor for my Impala, so the original, legitimately odometer-never-rolled-over 70,000 mile motor is up for sale.
It had a mystery miss which prompted some investigation. Prior to teardown, all 8 cylinders showed compression of 150-175ish. But it burned oil. Lots of it. Turned out, it was all through the valve stem seals. Intake and heads got pulled off, found a collapsed lifter, and that was it. Said collapsed lifter had a small pit at the face of it, cam didn't show any damage.
We did not tear apart the bottom end. I removed the oil pan and used it on my new motor, but it will come with the dented oil pan from the new motor. Bottom end looks pretty. Cylinder walls still have crosshatch and no ridges. Heads will need to be gone through good though, or just shitcanned.
Right now, heads and 2bbl intake are off to the side. No one ever tore this engine apart before me, that much was totally clear. And with some new top end gaskets and the heads gone through, it's got a long life to lead still. Which is why I'd rather find someone who can use it than just getting scrap money for it.
Motor is in Warren right now. I've taken little sensors and stuff off of it, but it's all there otherwise. Comes with flywheel if you want it too. If you're interested, shoot me a PM and we can talk about it more.
