What kinda set up? what kinda fish? what kinda coral? Fresh water or salt water?

Ive got a decent setup, just a 55gal long salt water, looking to jump to a 24"x24"x48"

Tomato Clown
Chalk Basslet
Valentini Puffer
Green Spot Puffer
and a Blue Damsel

For coral

There is some sea grass, pulsing xenia, cabbage leathers, some buttons and some mushrooms.

I also have some small frags if someone wanted to trade some frags.

I will get back into the hobby someday...back about 15 years ago I was into it. I kept mostly small and medium Central and South American Cichlids.

Last tank I had was a 55 gallon long with a brown flathead catfish and a blue Channel catfish. They were both actually pretty cool fish to own, pretty aggressive. The flathead could eat 20 gold fish at one sitting. I'll have to dig up some pictures.

We have had Channel catfish as well, also Bluegill and Large mouth bass....they make good aquarium fish and you can release them into a lake when they get to big.

I just gave away a 100gal with a home made stand. I found a bunch of driftwood planks then I bolted a few 2x4's together then screwed & glued the planks on the sides/back. Came out badass. Too funny I had an Albino channel catfish.

Awesome. My tank wan't big enough to keep a large mouth or anything else, plus the flat head was super aggressive. I'd love to have a huge tank with a "Michigan" lakes theme to it.

I used to breed alot of cichlids back in the day; Red Devils, Dempseys, Midas Cichlids, Jaguar Cichlids, Texas Blues, and Chanchitos. What are some good fish stores these days? I always used to deal with Greenwoods and Kees...but Greenwoods has gone WAY downhill since I was into the hobby. I stopped in there a few months back and nothing is taken care of anymore, very small selection of fish and equipment, etc. Nothing but a shell of its former self.

I used to have a salt tank. RBTA + mated black & white ocellaris clowns looked awesome! Too many corals to name.

I've got a 75gal African Cichlid tank. Several breeding pairs, Red Empresses, Peacocks, a few others.

I also have a 24gal BioCube tank that I use as a grow out tank for fry, but I'm thinking about converting it to a small saltwater tank to try out the whole salt thing.

Small tanks aren't very forgiving when it comes to salt water. Of course they're cheaper to start up, but harder to maintain. Just a tip.

I have two fresh water tanks. One is a 55gal and the other is a 20gal. I've been tempted to tear them both down a couple times. The 55 is a leftover from the cell phone store. We use to have a snapper and a painted. Alex (DRK CYDE) has the snapper. These are some shitty pictures, I need some better pictures.

The 55gal has a painted turtle, med size Koi, an albino channel cat, pleco and a couple feeder gold fish that were suppose to be food for the painted but have grown up.

I have a piece of driftwood for the turtle to chill on.

This a picture of the 20gal as I was building it. Half of the tank is a terrarium for my three tree frogs and the other side for a Map turtle and a couple feeder gold fish. The turtle has a piece of limestone to bask on and get to the land area.

I would love to start this as a hobby. Really want saltwater but should probably start off fresh first. Even just some coral and anemone or whatever to begin with.

Corals are much harder than fish. They need more attention and better lighting. I had two tanks. One 55 gallon with a small stingray a few clowns and a violetin lion fish. Now it's all just sitting in my garage collecting dust. I also had a 65 gallon tank with a 2 ft American alligator that I just sold 2 months ago lol.

Id tell you just to start with a salt tank, and go slow. Set it up and let it develop an eco system before putting fish in it. Lots of live rock and grow some algae. Make sure you get the right lights, and make sure you get a coral fish combo that works. I have ended up with fish that eat particular corals.

crappy picture of mine.

Here's a couple of my tanks from years past. I was pretty heavily into saltwater reefs for awhile, talk about moneypits.
