First time out in my big block camaro

Been a long time since I've had this car together. Ever since it's been done it's been one issue after another and I just got frustrated and put it in the corner where it's sat for about 3 years. I finally dug it out this past week and put in several hours addressing issues and problems, and we finally are getting somewhere. Took a few videos as I backed it out of the shop and got down for the first time. It's a 427 big block steel heads solid roller victor Jr intake transbrake th400 and 8.5 ten bolt with 3.42s and a mini spool. Really needs a lot more gear. I know it's nothing compared to half the cars on here but I'm finally glad to make it down the street and back under its own power.

I am amazed by all the new Mustangs, Challengers, Chargers and Camaro's running 10's these days but it is so tough to deny the fun factor of Old school muscle that runs 11-12's on the street. I need to bet my BBC back to being healthy again!

Thanks for sharing. Love 2nd Gen Camaro's

I agree completely. My gt500 with bolt ons was a 10 second ride, and don't get me wrong it felt cool, and quick, but it was so smooth and comfortable it was almost boring. An all motor 10.90 big block muscle car feels 10x faster even though it's really not.

What do you need to do to the rear suspension to get it to hook up better? (Other than take it an actual track.) It sounds great. :-)

Sounds really nice. It's cool when everything comes together and works the way it should.

What ended up being the ghost?

I got this car when I was 15 (about 10 years ago) it was my first car. It was all stock when I got it, and I've slowly been fucking with it ever since. I ended up building a 406 small block for it when I was 17, and traded that for this BBC. I stuffed this BBC in it, and literally tore the car apart by putting that big engine in a basically stock car. Broke the trans, broke the rear end, etc. So I built a good trans and good rear end, and just have had several tiny issues since then. Nothing major, just issues with the brakes, issues with the driveshaft (for a long time I kept breaking U-joints and pinions) and for a long time I've always had the car band-aided together to drive around but have never really been able to get after it like I should. So after getting frustrated and letting the car sit for years and buying other cars and projects in between, I finally dug the car out this week and threw a bunch of parts at it now that I'm a little more financially able to, and got everything lined out (for the most part) and this is the first time I've actually dropped the hammer and had it stay together. So kind of a good feeling lol.

Great that you kept it and didn't write it off. Most cant say that and then later on seek to find it or build another twin at a much higher cost.
thanks for the cliffnotes!

You build it yourself and it's always faster...Even if in reality it's not.
Some time I'll have my car going again as well...I don't give up on it, but it does get old with all the little BS things that keep showing up.
Nice work, good to see!
