First 4 Minutes Of Borat

I don't think any of that Borat stuff is funny. Some of the Ali G shit is absolutely hilarious, but I don't think it's really funny to peg the people of Kazakhstan as accepting a "village rapist" or any of that other shit, even as parody...

it's not so much that borat is funny (which he is) but the reactions he gets from people. just sucks that the character is dead for all intents and purposes. he's been outed now. ahh well.

Yeah yeah yeah. I knew a bunch of people would freak out and be like "dude it's a joke you fucking idiot blarg". Believe me, I'm one for all kinds of tasteless humor, and parody of a country is nothing new.

However, like I said, even though SBC is at times very funny, on the list of things I consider funny under no circumstances include
  • rape
  • rapists

Call me crazy, and no, I'm not from Kazakhstan.

And a lot of people are offended by abortion, so is it wrong he called someone an abortionist? If there was a rape and/or a rapist in the movie, maybe you would have a point, but there isn't.
 
i think its funny.. and fact is, its filmed in romania for the whole "kazakhstan" part. the car pulled by the horse is a "dacia" a car made in romania.
 
I'm offended when someone farts in my car; rape is a hardly a topic I'd consider simply an "offensive" comedic device. Know any rape victims? Ask em how hilarious it is, in any circumstance.

ps. rape isn't a choice.

C'mon, mang. Some old dude riding a donkey cart being called the "Town Rapist" is some funny shit. It's because he really isn't is what makes it funny. If he really was the town rapist, then that's not funny.

The thing with Borat is get's people to say things that they normally wouldn't. He brings out the prejudice in people. Prime example is the Throw the jew down the well song. FYI, Sacha himself is jewish. He gets a bunch of rednecks to sing along, not realizing what they are singing! The joke is more on the people that he talks to!

And the fact that its not scripted makes it that much more brilliant.

Being of Eastern European descent myself, I can relate to some of the references he makes about the third world references, which I find comical, but true to a certain degree. I've been there, and seen some shit, that's similar to the scene of the cow pulling the car! Plus the accent is classic!
