Finally Detailed the GTO

So most of you know that I've been traveling a lot from St. Louis to Detroit. Well on my most recent trip home I made the mistake of stopping at the local DIY car wash and washed the bugs off the car. Mistake number two is that I grabbed the brush and went to town on my paint.
I was sick to my stomach when I left. I KNEW better. So my punishment was roughly 15 hours of work to get the car back to how it should be.

lookin' BRAND NEW again. Great work and nice 50/50 along with products. You might call yourself a week-end-warrior, but you surely have some quality Pro-stuff in your line-up. How do you like the Rubbish Boy's Juiced Edition? I'm somewhat interested in it as though RBOE has a huge following, the 'nuba content is so high that it's a stupid-hard wax which isn't very user friendly IMO. I know the RB-JE is supposed to be a little more creamy.
Red Mist Tropical is one of my fav quick detailers, and you wouldn't believe what I've been going through to attempt to import original Red Mist over here.

Almost surprised you didn't go with 2-3 layers of sealant rather than a carnauba, but then I realize someone like you will surely do their Winter Prep at a later time :)

Nice work!

The RBJE is a breeze to work with. In fact I'm going to add another coat today since it's nice out. As far as RBOE goes I like to apply it by hand. It seems that my body heat does a good job of warming the wax up enough to make it easy to work with. The downside to doing that is the learning curve. RBOE has to be applied in thin layers otherwise it is a pain to remove.
I like how Red Mist just accents whatever wax you've got on the car already. Most certainly a worthwhile QD to have handy.

Winter prep happens in a couple of weeks. I've got a few more shows to do and I prefer the look of a 'nuba over a sealant for show season. Sealants are the way to go in the winter for protection and look.

How did the bottle on the end do? I've never used Michelob Dunken-Weisse, but I've heard it works wonders on dark color cars!!!

Nice job man, car looks great again!!

Chemical Guys...Dodo Juice....awesome line up! You are skilled! The GTO looks awesome and I dig the plate.

I was under the impression that LITTLEMISS meant she was a woman? :spank: Correct me if I'm wrong. Just always read Littlemissgto's posts as a woman was behind the name.

Looks great!
That's the hardest part of a black vehicle, for me, is all those swirls standing out, yet both my vehicles are...

The DunkelWiesse went down nice and smooth. Helped with wax removal. :buds:

Thanks a bunch. The lady at the SOS thought it was pretty neat too. That is once I explained my reasoning. I'm from Missouri (MO) and the 60's tag line "is there a Tiger in your tank." I know better than to say anything about any other colleges than MI colleges when I'm in MI...LOL

Well you would be correct. It's kinda hard for some guys to wrap their heads around a woman having a cool car.

MI plates, this mean you are up here more pertinently?

Looks good. Like you mentioned, it's all in the sealants, and what you put on top of it. Carnuba is incredible, but doesn't last for crap, particularly in the winter months up here.

Curious, what did you use on your tailpipes? The old ladies G6 has some nasty funk built up, and I've tried most everything, and nothing will knock off the carbon to my liking.

P.S. I'm on LS1GTO too

haha, i think whats more unbelievable than you being a girl with a cool car is the fact that youre a girl who cleans her own car

use some double zero steel wool with pretty much anything (glass cleaner/quick detail/metal polish) to knock of the thick carbon, it works wonders!

Naw just means I have an address in more than one state. Although while my friend is going through chemo I'll be in Michigan a lot.

I used Chemical Guys Metal Shine. I try to wash them every time I was the car to keep the build up to a minimum, but they were looking kinda dull so they got some love.

Not just cleans, but does paint CORRECTION.
These quotes made me laugh. Course if I don't keep my car clean no one else will.

Will it knock off the aluminum polish look too? I was afraid to try "regular" steel wool, as I figured it would kill some of the polish.

I've got Meguiar's all wheel cleaner, and all aluminum cleaner, which was kick ass on the wheels. But didn't do a whole hell of a lot for the exhaust tips.

My old stock catback has some pretty nasty carbon build up, and is sitting in the corner of the garage. Maybe I'll practice there first.

Thanks for the tip!

Ahh ok, I knew you were up here for your friends surgery, but didn't know there was more involved than that.

+1 for you doing what you are doing and being an outstanding friend.

If you need anything while around here, feel free to drop me a line. My roommate is a fellow GTO'er, and have a ton of buddies with them too in the area. We've got a garage, tools, random parts, and car washing/detail supplies & capabilities here on the Best Side (Novi).

Nah. It'll make them shine up like chrome! Thats all I use to clean exhaust tips. Steel wool and window cleaner. Looks awesome after your done.

+1 to steel wool - we keep #0000 handy for that reason. Some dedicated metal polishes are good too. I'd stay away from acid-based wheel cleaners as they can etch the finish if you're not careful.

+1 to this girl being a detailing machine. She's well read, well stocked, and takes care of her baby like a pro. LilMiss - if you're ever traveling and need a hand to give your baby a nice little clean-up, let me know and I'll happily give you a hand - what goes around, comes around and its good karma for all :)
