HCSO: Homeowner Shoots Robber
3 Men Kicked In Door Of Northwest Harris County Home

UPDATED: 12:50 pm CDT May 20, 2009

HOUSTON -- A homeowner shot a robber during a home invasion in northwest Harris County early Wednesday, deputies told KPRC Local 2.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said three men armed with shotguns pretended to be police when they kicked in the door of a home in the 11900 block of Madison Oak Street near Proctor Street at about 2:30 a.m.

A man, his wife and 5-year-old daughter were asleep in the home when they woke up to the sound of the front door being kicked in.

The robbers demanded money, detectives said.

"The suspects came in and they alleged to be police. They were screaming, 'Police. Get down. Where's the money?' The complainant, in fear of his safety and his family, complied but was able to retrieve his own weapon," said Sgt. Noel Araguz of the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

"The homeowner retrieved (his) handgun, fired shots at the suspects. The homeowner chased the suspects out of the residence and continued to fire at them as they ran down the road," said Zach Long of the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

At least one of the robbers also fired a shot into the home, deputies said.

Officials said the suspects, Terrance Howard, 22, Brandon Searcy, 23, and Marcus Moore, 21, later showed up at a nearby hospital.

Moore suffered a gunshot wound to the eye and was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital. He is listed in critical condition. The other two were not injured.

All three were charged with aggravated robbery.

The family inside the home was not injured.

"Everybody has a right to protect themselves, but you have to consider that these guys are heavily armed and you're taking a risk of not only yourself, but your family. And he did have a little one inside the house. Any time there's an exchange of gunfire, you're putting your family in harm's way," Araguz said.

Deputies are working to determine if the home invasion is connected to another robbery about 15 miles away earlier in the evening. Investigators said the same type of shell casing was found at that scene.

Why is it almost every time I read about a home invader being shot at that they aren't put to rest? Home owners need to hit their mark...

I wish all three of them would have been killed. Instead they will be wasting taxpayer money sitting in prison.

Yep, it's too bad he didn't kill all 3. I know if something like that happened to us, my wife would never be able to sleep again. Especially knowing that the little pricks would be out in a year and may come back for revenge for their asshole, eyeless, buddy.

Worthless fuckers, i dont hope he dies....he needs to be stuck in a vegitative state. trapped in his own body for many many more years....And be in constant pain. Death is too easy for dirt bags like that. useless human beings.
