f150 pitman arm shaft seal

trying to change this thing....everything online says there is supposed to be a snap ring.....but i can not see nor feel on after the pitman arm is off.....any ideas? new seal kit comes with one

IIRC you have to remove the sector shaft and the pitman shaf to get at it.

the ring is an inside type, in a groove in the box

clean the groove out, and there might be a rubber ring over the hole, i have had to screw with that before


FYI, a new seal rarely lasts more then a couple months before leaking again

^^ as stated above, will most likely be putting in a gear box soon.
