F1 vs GT

Saw that last week and couldn't believe it. That is a HUGE difference. To be fair, though, that is one of the fastest parts of that track, and F1 cars don't need to do nearly as much braking (if any) through that sector as a GT car would, but still...amazing.

Damn that almost seems fake....F1 cars moving that much faster than a GT car. Looks like something is wrong with the gas pedal on the GT cars. lol

I've done laps in an FIA GT1 car and it's pretty impressive. It's a wildly different level of grip than what you get in even the most hardcore "track" street car. I've been in Ariel Atoms and Radicals and it's just another level. They aren't what I'd call "fast" by modern street car standards, but the braking zones shrink about 80% and the corner speeds go up about the same.

Needless to say, there's a reason why Formula 1 cars are impossibly expensive. It has to be a mind altering experience to get a ride in one with a pro behind the wheel.

I thought I saw something at one point that said an F1 car would run high 8's in the 1/4 without even being setup for drag racing. They've definitely got the power to weight thing going on for them.

Probably even faster. Apparently a 2006 Renault F1 car hit 124 mph in 3.8 and 186 mph in 8.6. For a car that's definitely going 190+ in under 9 seconds I'm sure it could run 7's with the right downforce setup. Retarded.

That's what I want to see. A guy pull an F1 car out of the trailer at the drag strip.

Spa is my favorite track...just love the layout...maybe one day I'll save up enough to go see a race there.

Was that in the Ford GT of the Matech team?
