F-body hatch problem

Ok heres what i got 89 Firebird formula automatic. The hatch button used to work just fine, then the car sat for almost a year, bring it back out and now i got nothing BUT when i hit the hatch release button the brake warning light turns on? You can hear the switch workin but it dosent make it to the back. Worst case senario, is there anyway to get the hatch open manually, not using the lock cylinder (dont have a key for it

In the hatch area? i was workin on pulling the rear plastic panel off but only way to get that off with the hatch closed it to caveman it and break it.

hmm. I haven't reall y been around 3rd gens. 4ths just have some light truck material over the latch

Lame, yea the 3rd gen has one solid plastic part that makes it pretty much impossible to get to the latch assembly
