Ebay Sellers

I just sold a pair of golf shoes on ebay and it cost me $2.00 to list put up 5 pictures, a reserve, and a buy it now option.

I sell car parts and get hit 12% on sale fees, then 3% on the remainder through Paypal. Not to mention they also now charge you on whatever you charge for shipping, so if you charge $10 and it costs you exactly $10, you lose out.

Tools has some high fees. I went to list a vintage Logan lathe stand (legs and swarf tray), and the listing fee was $25!!!. For something I would be lucky to get $100 for, I bailed on listing it. Car parts have been decent but some other ones are a little out of whack.

depends on your listing options if you put it in more then one section you pretty much have to pay 2x. I just sold a set of heads for $1150 ebay with listing fees took $120 then paypal who i believe is also owned by ebay took their 3%. I misjudged shipping them so had to eat another $30. But i've been trying to sell them locally and on every auto sight for months with no luck. So at least they are gone now.

Usually they take like 10% as a selling fee. then whatever listing options you choose. Ebay is always my last option because of the damn fees its crazy how much they take.

Yep, in many cases it's certainly a "I'll pay it because I have no better option" kinda place. I consider the costs as "effortless advertising".

Listing thru Ebay Mobil on MOST items is FREE. BUT...they still take 10% Final Value Fee, then they charge you 2-3% for what you charged for shipping...then Pay Pal gets their 3% cut. So if you sell a product for 500, they're taking 50 right off the top. You can make money on the shipping, which I recommend doing, charge 25, hopefully it costs you 12 or 15, but then they get more money. It's a catch 22.
