Eat this, Not that

My wife gave me this book for Christmas and it's full of crazy shit. Just shows you how f'ed up the marketing of "healthy" food is at most restaurants and grocery stores. Tons of easy substitutions to keep the worst of the worst out of your diet.

Examples:

McDonald's 5 piece Chick Select Strips: 830 calories, 55 g fat
McDonald's 6 piece Chicken McNugget: 280 calories, 17 g fat

You could eat a 20 piece Chicken McNugget and still be under the 5 piece select strip.

Red Lobster:
1.25 Maine lobster with cocktail sauce - 288 Calories, 3g fat
King Crab legs with butter - 883 calories, 35g fat

Ruby Tuesdays:
Top Sirloin - 464 calories, 24g fat
Turkey Burger - 1,171 calories, 58g fat

Subway:
6 inch Double Roast Beef sub - 360 calories, 7g fat
6 inch Tuna Sub - 530 calories, 31g fat

Then there's random stuff like a Big Mac is 540 calories and 29g of fat, whereas a Whopper is 760 calories and 47g of fat. An Egg McMuffin is 300 calories. A whole plain bagel is 510.

It has that kind of stuff for every restaurant and a ton of different grocery items. Chips, cookies, frozen foods, meats, condiments, juices, etc. I'd recommend it for anyone looking to at least make small changes in their diet to avoid the worst of the worst and reasonably substitute items.

Oh yeah, P.F Chang's Pork Lo Mein has 1,820 calories and 127g of fat, Macaroni Grill's Spaghetti and Meatballs has 2,430 calories and 128g of fat, and Outback's Aussie Cheese Fries has 2,900 calories and 182g of fat.

That;s why during spawning season I stand in the fresh waters and catch salmon in my mouth and enjoy that for my daily intake of nutrients...

me too....I only eat the brains and then throw the rest downstream...I'm a connoisseur of river food.

Is the book from Men's Health magazine? It's crazy good. Eating out should no wreck your health. Highly recommended.

That sounds like an interesting book. One of those spaghetti dinners from Macaroni Grill will theoretically hold you over for the day, given its calorie and fat content.

Yup, it's the Men's Health book. It's not what I'd call a diet book, just a substitution book with details on hidden nutritional facts.

You wouldn't think it, but a Taco Bell Steak Supreme Burrito Supreme has 390 Calories and 14g of fat. By contrast, the Chipotle Steak Burrito has 1,126 calories and 45g of fat. Pretty crazy.

Just substituting random shit like that can save tens of thousands of worthless calories a year. That's a lot of weight, let alone if you combine some sort of exercise.

No shit?! What's the name of this book?

My buddies GF had that book. Pretty interesting. I was depressed once I found out that the UNOS Pizzaria Numero Uno pizza has 200g of Fat!!!! That's like 5 whoppers for a personal pan pizza.

One more time...

Eat This, Not That

I skimmed. :D And in the thread title, I thought you just said that in hopes of getting others who are confused about what you're talking about to click in and read. It worked.
