DY CUT

Dimitri Young gets the AXE from the tigers after another loss. Seems like a little panic setting in, this weekend probably makes or breaks them. Lose 3 or 4 to the twinkies & third place is a real possiblity.

I have a feeling DY flipped out when he was pinch hit for in the late innings of todays game.

He has been slumping a bit, like 3 for 23. But still overall at .291 avg.
There has to be more to this than they're saying.

He did a bonehead move in the third inning of Wed. game.

Meche had just walked 2 to load the bases and Young comes up and gets a quick 2-0 count, what does he do???

Take the next pitch???

NOPE!

He swings at a bad pitch and pops out. Nice play for your #3 hitter whose also your DH.

They ended up pinch hitting for him in the 8th and Hooper layed down a great bunt to move the runners over to 2nd and 3rd to get the 3rd and 4th runs 2 batters later.

It's a numbers game..... a .291 average at this point in the season would be about average for a decent hitter that had played the whole season, but remember DY was out for a while when he went to rehab and what not, so he hasn't had as many at bats as your "everyday" player. His production in the clutch sucks! And with Carlos Guillen coming back soon, and Polanco also coming back in the near future, we don't really need DY, cutting him opens up a spot for a "hot bat" from AAA or AA. Until they both got hurt, I don't think anyone really realized how much Polanco and Guillen contributed to this teams offense.
