Can a inefficency code for the converter, cause a second misfire code? 2002 Pt Cruiser. Chrysler dearler has replaced the following under warranty.

Both O2 sensor's
Coil Pack
#2 and #4 fuel injector
Plugs
Wires
Pcm
Fuel Filter
Fuel injection cleaning
Removed fuel tank and pump to check for varnish or junk in the tank.

This is my sisters vehicle. She has a check engine light come on the day after she bought it. I told her to take it back and have them look at it. Three days later she gets it back. Next day light is back. I had her bring the car to me. I looked at it and the only code was for converter ineffiency. They replaced both 02 sensor's when they had it. I called the dealer and they told me the sensor's were a process of elimination. He then said he would replace the converter under the emission law. They still have not. Dealer now says the car doesnt qualify for replacment.

convertor shouldn't cause a misfire code

however, I have seen a few PT Cruisers with intake manifold leaks that will set a misfire code..............

Catalytic converter is covered by a 8yr 80,000 mile warranty. Thats federal law. A missifre can cuase a problem with a catalytic converter fialing. As per what dave siad. Vaccum leaks can also cuase catalyst efficency codes.

^Yep, they should still cover that cat due to previous problems with it, you can call the Chrysler service line and complain-they'll push it through under warranty.

Yeah I worked at a dodge dealer for 4 years all you have to do is say "I'll never buy another Chrysler product again" when you call Chrysler. I had many customers do that..
