Drive American

thats just plain stupid expensive, none the less badass

Actually, when you really break it down, it's not ALL that expensive...

Base '05 - 25k
Sell motor/trans/rear - (6k)
6060 Transmission - 3k
Z06 Rear - 3k
Built 434 LSX - 8k (being generous)
Heads - 4k
Turbo kit - 8k (being generous)
Wheels/tires - 8k
Bits and pieces (fuel, intake, etc) - 4k

That's 57k...

Also, that power is on 93 pump gas and that car is already in the 200mph club on pump :)

Sweet car. Id have to agree, I'm sure there is more then 57k in that car tho. Building a motor isnt cheap, you should know this eric. lol Not to mention the cage, brakes, gauges, tuning, labor, springs alllll the little shit adds up. Id be willing to bet thats more like a 100k car.

Yeah, I'd guess $50-75k just in upgrades/labor. Engine alone was probably $15-20k, possibly more depending on how exotic it is.

That thing has to be just stupid on the street. I'd love to have that car with about half the power.

I'm assuming hes thinking without labor/tuning and a few other things

Of course that was parts only, I wouldn't want to pay someone to do something I can do myself.

Sounds like machine work too...

8K??? The parts alone could add up to that.

Machine work on a brand new block? From what I've paid in the past, I wouldn't expect machine work to be anywhere near 1k. I don't know what components were used so I can't be certain but it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume they could do 4k for the rotating assembly plus block, fasteners, etc.

Jamie, you'd be amazed at how much I spent on my motor... on my whole setup even. I'm not really saying I KNOW that car has 57k into it, I was spitballing numbers... I guess my point was that for the power, streetability, presence on the street, etc, that it's a great value.

To make 1500HP he didn't buy some off the shelf block. At a minimum that block alone needed 1500-2000 to even get the assembly in it including the cam. As others have stated, he has 15-20K into the short block alone.

I could be wrong, but wont a stock LSX block hold that power level? I know of a few turbo LS! blocks (Stock blocks) working in this power range. Stock is a 6 bolt block. Unless the block I was looking at was not stock.
