Drag Week 2020 in Michigan

Dates.. this is awesome. The amount of carnage in the pits blew my mind. I can't imagine the stress they feel. Cracked oilpans, broken steering racks(2), blown 9" ring gear, bad injector o-rings. I seen all of that just creeping around for a few hours. Not seeing ANY tow vehicles is crazy too!

Sept. 13, 2020: U.S. 131 Motorsports Park, Martin MI (Tech and Registration day)
Sept. 14, 2020: U.S. 131 Motorsports Park, Martin MI (Race Day 1)
Sept. 15, 2020: Summit Motorsports Park, Norwalk OH (Race Day 2)
Sept. 16, 2020: Lucas Oil Raceway, Indianapolis, IN (Race Day 3)
Sept. 17, 2020: Byron Dragway, Byron, IL (Race Day 4)
Sept. 18, 2020: U.S. 131 Motorsports Park, Martin MI (Race Day 5, Finals Day)

Went out to 131 in 2016 when they stopped there. Very cool to see how the different racers approach this. Would be a lot of fun to be there for the beginning and the end. Never seen so many 8 second street cars.

Can you sign up and just do the two days in Michigan?

No, tickets go on sale in late February, 400 spots, they sold out last year in 4 minutes. I think it was around $400 a ticket. I missed getting a ticket last year and got on the waiting list, it was over 1000 people deep. Drag Week is pretty big deal considering it’s all for bragging rights.

Good luck bad466! Drag week is one of the coolest and most impressive events in all of motorsports.

Gotcha

No one has been turned away from racing drag week. They sell out every year in the first 400 but a lot of people end up backing out or become no shows, same as the wait list. We will be going to drag week as well this year. Not racing but following the week and route to get an idea of how this all works. We have a few friends that have been quite successful the past few years at Drag Week. Our goal is to have a car and all the necessary back up parts needed to survive the week.

What car are you planning on taking? Glad you secured hotels...otherwise you may face divorce. Lol

I am taking my 69 Mustang, the one that I have had out at Roadkill Nights the last 2 years. It’s a big tire car, exhaust dumps at the rear axle and it has Kirkey seats so it should be a long, loud and miserable ride. I can’t wait!! Over the winter I plan on putting a Holley HP EFI set up on it, so drive ability should be really good.

Right now, valve springs, lifters and rocker arms are the only thing I’m really worried about. The rest of my car is built really well. Valve springs seem to really take a beating.
