Doors

The doors on a Mustang I'm looking at do not shut properly. I've looked at the stops where the door clicks shut and those are fine. When the doors shut they still have play in them where they move either way (in or out). How would I go about fixing something like that?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Probably the hinge pin. I ahve to replace all 4 in my 91. Not too hard a job. You can get them at murrays for cheap. I just changed the uppers and it closes fine. If the lowers are bad the uppers will go bad again fairly quick, so dont be cheap and fix all the worn out ones or it will cost you in the long run.

As an you are looking at it to buy? If it is newer, and the doors don't shut right, I would stay away from it. if it is older, then take it to a bodyshop and have it looked at to make sure it wasn't in an accident, make sure it is just old age.

hinge pins adjust the striker and the door seals play a big role in keeping tension on the latch

When you release the door from the inside handle does
the door "pop" open or do you have to push it open?
