Done circle track racing?

I know there are alot of drag racers on the site but I don't think I've ever seen mention of any circle track guys.

I just got into it this year and am loving it. Wondered if anyone was on here that is doing it too.

I used to run stock class induros at flatrock for a few years...

V8 or the FWD ones? The enduro cars is about the closest thing to what I'm running right now. I've met a few of the flatrock guys. From what I've heard from them it seems like a decent facility!!

v8.. I used to drive a red cheby caprice for Ron Mclade

I owned Circle Track cars from the 70's until just recently. I know I can't drive, so I always had drivers, but I did all of the work myself, including set-up. We always had the Outlaw Super Late Models which were 2600 pound cars including the driver, 700 HP engines on 10" slicks. 1000# lighter, same HP and more tire than NASCAR.......We raced all over Michigan, Ohio and Indiana.

I recently bought a circle track car and converted it to go road racing......

I still know quite a few racers and go to the races on a regular basis. Did you have a question regarding a car?

I go up to Dixie Motor Speedway every once and a while and watch them run. Always a lot of crashes...

Ran my GN at spartan speedway a few times 5+ years ago. Took second place after a race prepped car tried to put me into a wall... I bet that I could piss off a few rednecks with my STi now.

I didn't really have any setup/car questions. My car is a little different anyways setup wise as probably anything you've dealt with. I run a Pony stock. Basically it's a 4cyl FWD automatic car. We run street radials (Sumitomo HTR 200) and were supposed to have "stock" suspensions and "stock" motors. Late models differ ALOT from what I run :_slide_:

I was really just asking because I hadn't seen any posts that I could remember that dealt with circle track racing (aside from watching nascar posts) So I was really just curious if people had ever done it.

Did you run any of your SLM's at Springport or Spartan speedway? Just curious who your drivers were if you did.

Are you talking about the spectator drags? That would be the only reason I can think of someone would be stupid enough to take their car out against "race prepped" cars

And I bet more then a few "rednecks" would piss you off with their cars also.

Yes, we've run both places, as well as Owosso, Auto City, Dixie, K'zoo, Berlin and Toledo. We started racing at Mt. Clemens in the 70's....

Some of our drivers were:
Dick Barker, who still runs at Flat Rock. He has had several championships at both Flat Rock and Galesburg. He is in 2nd place in the points right now at Flat Rock.

Jeff Finley, who's also had several track champioships, including 3 track championships in a single year at 3 different tracks. Jeff's 15 Y/O son, Chad is now running the Supers at Spartan, Owosso and the ASALMS Series.

Tristan Dupuis, who still kills them in the Sportsman and Enduro classes He still makes a living racing those classes, with several $10,000 to win "X" class invitational wins.

Kurt Shoemaker raced for us for 1 year. He now races the 410 Outlaw Sprints on pavement. He's been 2nd in points for the past 2 years to Gary Fedewa.

Dina Howe drove for us for 4 years and has 2 track championships. Dina is the most talented and most aggressive driver we've ever had, and also the hardest on equipment.....Must have had something to do with that fire red hair!

Chas Howe, who is married to Dina, and owns Howe Racing. It is Chas Howe in the picture, standing next to the car.

I would prepare and bring the car to the track for all of the drivers, on a weekly basis. They would only have to show up at the track, ready to drive.

My brother started and used to run the MCR Dwarf Car series and in the beginning, Springport was their home track. They traveled all over Michigan, Indiana and Ohio. I think my brother had the track record at every track they raced at, at one time or another, and probably 80% of them all at the same time.

I'll be at Spartan this Friday. I know the entire Finley family pretty well and I usually hang out with them when I go to Spartan. As a matter of fact, Doug Finley will be running at Angola on Saturday for a $5,000 to win race. He just won a pretty big race at Auto City on Tuesday.

I know all about the Finley's. Doug is the defending points champ at Spartan and also is leading the points so far this season. His nephew Chad definitely has some talent!!

I have heard some of the other names thrown around befre. This is my first year competeing though so I'm not hugely familiar with drivers.

You ought to try to make it out to Springport saturday. We have the VROA's coming and we also have our "Snap On 60" for the pony stocks. We have to go 60 green flag laps with one mandatory green flag pit stop with at least one tire change. "Pit road" is down on the infield so it should be a BLAST!! I know tons of people are excited about it!

Well, Saturday I am actually going to Angola, Indiana with the Finley's to watch Doug race. It is a $5,000 to win.

I just got off the phone with the owner of Dixie. They have a class that is pretty close to my ASA car. I asked him if I could bring it to the track to race it with their late model class and he said I could. Of course I'd have to change the front suspension back to run the oval, but that isn't too hard....
