Does anyone know Matt Lefond from Morley, MI?

So I sold a parts car to this guy for $900, he sent me a money order and he is supposed to come get the car next week. Now he calls and says he has a family emergency and wants to cancel the deal. I haven't cashed the MO yet. He wants me to cash the MO and then wire him back the $900.
The MO is legit, the thing just sounds like a scam to me.

i say cash it, wait til it clears, then tell him sorry about his emergency, but his parts car is awaiting pickup

Sounds like a scam to me as well. I would talk to your bank manager and ask them about it. I was told it could take up to a month to clear, and that if it does go bad that you would be responsible for it and not the other guy. May want to talk to an officer, this may be a good sting operation setup since it's already moving forward!

I actually work at a bank. I had the security/complaince officer look at it and it appeared real. We also called the number at MoneyGram and had them verify it was a valid MO with no cancellation order on it.
The whole thing is super sketchy but if someone on Motown vouched for him, I would consider it.
Here's the deal.
Car is on ebay, but doesn't sell.
A person contacts me after the auction, using his "friends" account, since his computer is screwed up, and asks for my phone number.
We go over the deal and he Fedex's the MO the next day, but I was on vacation.
Fast forward a week.
He calls today and says he wants me to cash the MO, and then wire the money to ANOTHER person's account since he doesn't have a bank account, and call the deal off, but keep $100 for my trouble.
Sounds WAY too fishy.

Hmmm,, just googled his cell number, this is what comes back on someone's myspace page.

"fasho.. on my myspace playlist, the one underneath my pic has a song called til i die... its me and my boy Rev from detroit. check it out... but im on house arrest for the next two months so it'll be a minute before i can come over but hey i gotta big ass house in morley and we party on a daily basis... i got a lil studio on my computer so maybe we can put something together. get at me bro 231-307-3027"

Sounds like he's trying to catch another case. I'd cash the MO and tell him he has until xx/xx/xx to pick it up or its going to the scrap man.

Well here is the easy way to look at it.
1. You cash it, and send him the cash and all is on the up and up

2. You cash it, send his buddy the money, he takes you to court because he now owns your car and your out the money. You have no proof he said to send to his buddy!

3. You send it back to him and tell him to deal with getting refunded.

4. You cash it and tell him to pick up the car.
a. The M/O is legit and he has to figure out how to get his car
b. the M/O is fake and not only do you have the car still now you have to pay back the money from the M/O and the penalty fees associated

Enjoy! And choose wisely.

Next time tell him to pay a bank to issue a certified check through the bank! Costs a few bucks but a lot more secure! Also, make sure you get anything he says in writing.

Let this be a lesson. I have only done cash,
face to face deals and I have never had any
of this kind of drama.

And to answer your question, yes I know Matt
Lefond from Morley real well. He said to cash the
check & give the money to me & I'll take care of it :naughty1:

How does he know you haven't spent the money on your own emergency?? Tell him where the car is and the date to secure by...
