Ive got a guy at work that just needs a working desktop, his finally gave up and a few people said there is nothing that can be done since it is so old.

The only reason Im asking for a donated one is he is 85, a navy vet, and a cool guy to work with. The only reason his wife wants a working computer is she uses it is to keep in touch with all of there kids and grand kids.... Maybe play some solitaire. Id be willing to meet up with someone and even throw them a few bucks for gas if nessasary. I live in Canton and work in livonia.

The only requirements are that you can plug internet into the back of it.. no wireless, and he has an old crt monitor, I'm not sure if the plugs would be any different. I basically only has to have windows and internet explorer. All he is looking for is a working tower, I have extra keyboards and mice, lol. just incase his wont adapt.

I might have some parts to resurect his old machine, can you pop off the side covers and take me a picture ? I have a good supply of old computer parts.

Thanks, I'll see if he can bring it in.

ive got one, but its so old hed probably die before it booted up

lol, I think thats what he is dealing with now, except for it just stopped booting up.

+1 to both of you.

Do you have any idea what's wrong with it? I can swing by and pick it up from Mid-5 and take a look at it if he'd like. I've got a decent stash of old parts to add on to whatever Sean has laying around.

I have no clue, His son took a look at it and said I cant fix it anymore, get a newer one. I have reason to believe that his son knows a bit about computers.

Well, there's a difference between "can't" fix it and "it's not practical" to fix it on an older computer, and a lot of people will just say buy a new one either because it's not practical or because they just don't want to deal with it. If it's simply not practical, people like Sean and I with old parts laying around might be able to relatively easily fix it whereas it would normally cost way more than it's worth to source out those old parts. He can do whatever he'd like, but it would probably be worth the time to at least see what he's got in case it can be easily fixed. I work a mile away from the store so like I said I can take a look at it if he wants.

I have a 17 inch monitor Ill donate to ya
