Do you have DTE for energy at your home?

I was able to installed it and was able to log in so that is a plus. Overall it has a nice appearance.

Very snazzy. My house is old and leaks like sieve, so I've been trying to fix as much as I can slowly. I'm on the DTE website all the time checking to see how much progress I'm making, so this is right up my alley. Slick app.

I think the smart meter that DTE hung on my house is total bull shit !
I could care less if I use more or less power each month
My whole house is electric

I have 2 refrigerators,& a freezer, electric stove , my daughter & I are both are on Cpap machines, I leave outside lights on dusk till dawn ,
I use my central air , I leave my coffee maker plugged in when I'm not using it , my toaster too
I do use CFL bulbs and I'm switching to LED's next ( damn kids always leave all the lights on ! )

Use the power scan tool in the tools section. You can place your phone(iPhone only) over any power cord to see how much it is drawing and find that vampire appliance!! (psst: it uses your phones magnetometer to measure the live current/draw!! (p.s. we patented that lol) )

I don't work for DTE, but the company I work for built the app. Maybe it'll help you reduce your bill? If not just enjoy it!
 
I downloaded it. I thought I had a smart meter but I guess not. I'll check it out more later.

Then opp out of it. Problem solved. It's simple to do.
Oh, you get to pay more per month though. Smart meters are eliminating meter readers, so if you want out of the smart meter, you pay a fee to have your meter read.


But let me guess......... It's not that much "bullshit" you won't pay to get rid of it now will you?
 
It's digital and it was changed two months ago. How do I use the app and the meter together?

ITRON and GE have been making meters with digital displays for over a decade and many meters have been walk-by or drive-by AMR. DTE is using Zigbee and Consumers is using cellular to bring the data all the way back (true remote reads).

But will our costs go down if we switch to the new smart meter since they no longer have to pay someone to read them? Nope. All it does it help them out.
 
Tried using the power scan but the 5c is not supported and the 4 is? I'll try using an older phone to get it to work.

Wow i'm surprised, I've got a TOD Rate smart meter and apparently its not compatible? I know you said Oakland County just figured I might get lucky LOL

Otherwise totally dig the premise and consumption check is pretty awesome!

How do I know it if I have a smart meter? I just bought the house last month and the meter does have a digital readout.
