DO we have any members that build decks?

We are looking for someone to build a deck on our house, if anyone builds them, shoot me a message!

Same, I am about to go to Northville Lumber, but seeing this, I'll wait a couple days and see if anyone here does.

With today’s lumber prices be prepared to pay 30% more then a year ago. Northville lumber has nice stuff just make sure you pick your own boards or they will load you up with the garbage boards, I built my deck a year ago just before prices went up and used them and had to exchange about 25 deck boards ( also their deck boards are thicker then everyone else) .

Did you use wood or Trex? I believe deck boards are 5/4 (five/quarter) boards, where as many people who don't know use treated wood or something like that from HD or Lowes...I learned this a few years back when I measured out my deck and started looking to replace a few of the really bad ones.

Correct deck boards a called 5/4 boards. I used pressure treated pine 5/4 boards from northville lumber. I’m not sure if this has effected the prices on trex to be honest. Either way your main structure will still be pressure treated or cedar lumber and then same for decking or trex.

All materials are up right now, if you can wait I'd hold off. I had planned to do a 20x40 deck at our cottage this year to get some extra room and add in a hot tub. With prices the way they are I'm building a temporary platform for the hot tub and waiting for lumber to get down to a reasonable price.

Does anyone know if trex up the same amount as lumber? I was going to add a deck to my house this spring too, but maybe it would be better to hold off.

Trex seems to be about the same as usual. The guys I had come do estimates all said it's better to use composite decking right now because the price gap between wood and composite is really low right now.

Go to Northville Lumber ... they have a list of Qualified & Licensed Contractors ... plus the lumber they will sell you is higher quality than Lowes or Depot

Maybe....I live pretty close to Northville Lumber. I have been looking to replace the current deck with new.
Recently doing some research on Northville Lumber, reviews are pretty poor. It is interesting to learn since I've heard them advertised on the baseball games for years.
I'm not sure what I'm doing just yet, but disappointed to read the reviews that I did.
I want to find some people who actually used them and what they have to say.
