Do Optima batteries require a battery box?

Simple question.
Do Optima batteries require a battery box for NHRA/IHRA?

It's going onto the rear side shelf area of a 4th gen Camaro with no firewall between it and the passenger area.

Damn sure it does need a box. I got yelled at for not having a box while running a dry cell dyna-batt.
