Has anyone ever ran into a problem where the distributor gears will not engage. I have msd billet with bronze gear feels like its hitting something .Ieventried a factory style did a liit clearancing and the factory wil engage the gears some. It appears to me that the hole for the dist. is little tight if i could hone it a liitle it would have enough movement to allow engagement. Please help want to make milan in october.

i bet the dist shaft is too fat to go down all the way. happened on the pinks motor we had to grind the end of the dist shaft to fit.

Oil pump shaft is in correctly. It is a arp shaft worked on my other motor. Is it possilbe the hole where the shaft goes is a tad bit smaller? The dist that was is the motor previous wore the gear teeth thin.

yeah. that is what i meant. the old dist from the pinks motor worked with the stock block, when we tried to put it in the race block it was like the hole was too small. so we had to grind the tip down a lil bit and it eventually went in.

also just had this problem last week. put the motor together and it had the washer on the oil pump rod, well there was too much slack so when the motor turned upside down it came out. went to put the dist in and it was not in the oil pump. can you prime the motor with a socket? try that first to see if that is the problem, if taht is not it id grind some off the dist to see if it goes down farther. if it does then you know what your problem is

Grinding of the shaft wont weakend the shaft? I'll try it let u know if works. Yes i can prime the motor with a drill so thats good.

i dont know. but if it wont work now what are your options? take the motor back apart and have it machined? we did it and it hasnt broke yet.
