Diet Help Please

Well... Yesterday was finally the day i realized i've turned into a slob. 8 years ago when i played baseball in college, i weighed 170lbs, now i'm sitting here at a not so slim 230lbs. i know my diet is my biggest problem.
I know a lot of you guys are into fitness, so is there somebody on here that can put together a decent diet that can help me get started. hopefully with that and hitting the gym, i can get back to the 185-190lbs range
 
You don't need to diet, you need to change the way you eat. If you diet and then stop dieting you'll end up right where you were. Good first steps are to cut out pop, processed cheese (or cheese in general), fatty ground beef, butter, and high fat milk. Follow that for a month and see where that leaves you. I lost 80lb in 7 months doing that along with weight lifting (but I was a big fat ass).
 
my advice is to CLEAN up your diet FIRST...start dropping fast food, pop, etc. It seems a lot of guys/gals want a diet plan but the "shock" from going from not eating good to a strict diet plan usually ends in failure.

ONCE you are comfortable you can transition into a stricter form of eating. I compete on the national level and even I go through a 3 week "clean up phase" where I drop sweets, pizza, etc. Once Iam through that I eat very strict.

ONCE you are through that phase I would advise on getting ahold of "THE ZONE" which is a good all around book to get you back into a healthy eating plan. It is pretty simple to follow and you can eat a larger variety of foods
