Since the MINI will be gone on Monday, and with me moving next month, my commute will increase by about 70 miles a day, I'll need a new car that is fuel efficient. I'd like something that does not take premium fuel, is reliable, and decent in the weather. I keep thinking of Fusions. I'd prefer to buy american. My budget is around 12k.

its hard to beat subaru's for a year round vehicle in a place that gets a lot of snow IMO

good luck.. you would be surprised how expensive Fusions are right now. Spending 12K on a fusion is going to put you around 100K miles. I spent a little more and found a great deal on a '07 STS with the same mileage but has AWD, navigation and even cooled seats. Gas mileage is decent around 25 MPG and it takes regular! Buff Whelan had a 2005 STS with 80K for $12,600, Varsity Lincoln has a 2008 Taurus SEL (cloth and no sunroof or dual climate control) with 104K for $9,700.00. The Taurus is rated at 18/28 MPG.

Talk to 91Trunk he will lead you in the right direction! He even has a 2005 Vue for sale, they are rated at 22/29MPG http://www.motownmuscle.com/forums/showthread.php?143159-F-S-2005-Saturn-VUE

Look at crownvics, marquis, lincolns. Full size rwd v8 and 24-26 mpg. Or u could look at a srt4 neon or caliber, ss cobalt.
Shit 12k puts u in a wide variety of cars, just stay away from 3.6l gms unless u like burning a lot of oil or pre mature timing chain wear and various other stupid stuff.

it's really easy too. Gas mileage is shit, and every wrx in my price range has been driven into the ground.

Cobalts are cheap and get awesome milage. I've been driving my 05 since it was new and it's got over 100k miles and still runs and gets the same milage as the day I bought it.

benny you should get an aspire man, perfect car for every season....47mpg, loved that car.

but for realistic advice, you CAN get fusions for good prices, I've seen them going around 9k or so with low low miles, just need to keep your eye out, I like my fusion it's a pretty good car.
