My neighbor has a 2007 C6 vette automatic trans. Only mods are Diablo computer hurricane intake and exhaust. Earlier today he got a ticket and he swore his cruise was set at 65 officer said he was going 89. So i checked his speed and sure as shit its way off and the amount varies too. When his odometer reads 35 he is going 50. When is odometer reads 55 he is at 72. Im not familiar with vettes was wondering if the speedo is computer driven? Could the Diablo mess up the speedo? Car is completely stock except the above listed upgrades.

Huge difference in 89 and 65.

He couldn't tell he was BLOWING by every car on the road?

Telephone poles looked like a picket fence.

07 do not have a speedo cable.

I'm guessing he or someone messed with the tuner and inputted a different tire size or gear change. Simple to do.
 
I believe an auto is calibrated via the PCM and was likely modified by accident with the tuner. Should be a simple fix, but I would get a video with a GPS vs his speedo so he can fight the ticket.

A manual trans car has a speed sensor on the ring gear and calibrates itself.
 
Fighting the ticket is useless....its your responsibility to make sure your speedo is correct....or you open yourself up to a faulty equipment as well....

I got nailed for the same thing... Took my car to get the speedo calibrated, it was 18% off.

Took it and all the paperwork to court, the judge said it's not even a law that says you need a speedo... NEXT!
 
Does that *really* surprise you? Fighting the ticket, or most tickets, using any kind of logic is usually just a waste of time. At best, plead not guilty... show for the court appearance, explain... at best, hope the judge gives you a deal to pay $$$ and no points.

IME, pleading guilty w/ explanation usually ends with the ticket bill being sent to you and not a single human even reading or caring about what you took hours to write & proof.

I'd have to check first though if the tune messed with anything emissions related as I wouldn't want to confess to a crime far worse than a speeding ticket.

Here's logic. There's a speed limit. If you exceed that limit you can be ticketed.
Not knowing how fast you are going is your problem.

There's your "logic".
There is simply no way someone couldn't tell the difference between 65 and 89.
