Contacts

So my g/f went to the eye doctor Thursday b/c she woke up and couldnt see. Her eyes were all messed up. She found out that she has 7 ulcers. They said it came from wearing her contacts so much. They also said that there is NO contacts that you should wear while sleeping and there are none that you should wear for days at a time without taking the out. Personally I wear mine all the time. I take them out once a month to pop in a new pair. So just warning you guys about this. She has to put in drops every hour and an ointment 2 or 3 times a day i think. Just warning you guys.

Now I have to go to the doc on Tuesday

That is crazy you guys wear them that much.
If I have to sleep in mine my eyes hurt for a couple days and I can't wear them.
Hell, even taking naps with mine on hurt.

I honestly forget I wear them sometimes. Its just natural until I get around chemicals and shit at work (detail cars). She takes hers out 75% of the time but I never take mine out. But now I do

She has 7 ulcers, and takes them out 75% of the time? What does she do, store them in week old piss?

I take mine out every night, thank god.

I have a friend that cannot wear them anymore. He wore a set for a year, never changed them. He starved his eyes of so much oxygen his eye doctor told him he would go blind soon (he was having blurred vision). So now he wears glasses and has been told never to wear them again.

No we use a special kind that actually cleans them better than any regular solution. Its so strong that it burns if you don't let them clean for 6 hours. Its called Clear care. I'm highly allergic to the regular solutions.

What he told you is true. My mom was in the eye business almost 30yrs. Sleeping and or wearing your contacts all the time will eventually damage your eye. When that happens there is no way of reverseing the affects. Ive heard horror stories of how people have lost their sight due to lazyness. When i was in highschool i used to wear mine all the time. When id go in for my check ups..they would ask if i was sleeping in them..of course being the ignorant teenager...id tell um no. They could always tell i did just by the build up in my eye. Your eye NEEDS oxygen to be healthy. There is NO contact that will allow the proper oxygen to your eye. Its almost like your choking your eyeball when you keep them in.

I wear the "focus night/day" lenses. I leave them in ALL the time. I hardly ever sleep without them in unless I'm cleaning them, which I do about twice a month. One pair is recommended for 30 days, but I'm going on 6 months with my current pair and have had ZERO problems. I've been doing it like this for over 6 years now and get my eyes examined religiously every year for work.

Adam's eye doctor gave him Focus night-and-day contacts and said its the first FDA approved one that you can sleep in. Good for 30 days or something. Not sure how true all that is but I don't think he wears them full time anymore.

I use oaysis lenses, but stretch the usage from 2 weeks to about a month or so per pair. Take them out every night and keep the cases clean and use fresh fluid every other day or so. Also, I don't understand how some people can just pop them in and out without washing thier hands. I'll only do that if I absolutely have to and not able to wash.

I HAVE to take mine out everynight.....

They will suction cup right to my eye if I sleep with them by mistake and I generally have to tear them off my eyes if it happens! My eyes are generally somewhat dry, so I have never been able to cheat which is good. I also have always tried to take a day off during the week with NOT wearing for a day! Seems to rally help with them being sensitive throughout the week.

Cannot wait as right after the Holidays I am getting LASIK.

My appointment is for Jan 10th.

I usually leave them in at night, but take them out overnight maybe once a week. I know I shouldn't do that, but I like to watch a bit of TV before sleep, and my eyes are so bad that I can't even see my computer monitor from my bed (which is MAYBE 3 feet away).

even the day and night jobs are bad news if you sleep in them frequently. my wife has been in the industry for years and we are always yelling at her little sister to stop sleeping in them.

After 10 years of wearing contacts I switched to glasses a couple of years ago. My eyes feel so much better now that they're getting oxygen. I took mine out every night and replaced them a little less than the recommended life but my eyes still dried out. It got to the point where the whites of my eyes had a yellow tint. I don't like wearing glasses but I'm not to the point where I want lasik yet.

ive had mine in for a month or so currently. I was taking them out everyday but my eyes hurt alot more. Im going to get lasik eventually. I should check out the night/day ones
