Clevor Engine

Been checking out this site for awhile after seeing one of the Motown Muscle videos. I was going to wait until I got my summer / fun car before posting on here but I had a few questions. I'm not very familiar with older ford engines and was having some trouble finding the information I was looking to get answered. Not trying to have you guys do all of my homework but any advice/experiences/knowledge would be appreciated.

Sometime in the next 2 or 3 months I’m planning on buying a clevor engine from a neighbor. He is going to give me a great deal on it because it needs a new camshaft and one of the camshaft journals needs to be fixed. Before I purchase it we decided to wait until it got warmer outside to pull the engine, tear it down, and have it inspected / get a quote from the race engine shop I plan on using.

Here is the engine build sheet.

I would like to drop the engine in a 94-95 Mustang GT but I wasn't sure about the variations of the 302 engine. I know I would also need a new or rebuilt performance transmission to avoid most problems. The best comparison I found on the internet was from the link below, but it really only compares it to the 87-93 Mustangs.

Would a 1969 based 302 just swap into a 94-95 Mustang GT? Would I need an after market hood to make clearance for the carb? Any internal engine changes that would be worth while, maybe new connecting rods? Also what kind of transmission would you recommend? I don't really have a set budget but i'm trying to avoid wasting money (like buying a 650+hp rated racing transmission for a street car only making 400hp). I know the 94-95 autos used an AODE while the manuals used a T-5. I want the car to have a nice street setup (maybe seeing the drag strip a few times in the summer). I have not yet decided if i'll go Auto or Stick. It will mostly depend when I find the right car for the right price.

Below is the tech article that the engine was based around.

Recent auction for the intake that comes with the engine.

When I get the engine it will be complete. He is giving me everything needed to get it running. Most of the parts are listed on that build sheet except for some of the accessories. The only main expenses should be getting the cam journal fixed, buying a new camshaft, and paying to have the bottom end rebuilt from a reliable shop.

The engine is coming from a 1969 Boss 302 clone. He recently purchased a 428 to swap into the Mustang instead of getting the 302 fixed.

I figured instead of paying for a good set of heads on a stock bottom end 302, I could get this one that comes with a forged crank, forged pistons, ported heads for the same price if not cheaper.

For the engine, a new cam, all the block work needed, and the rebuild it should run a little over 2k.

If worse comes to worse, I'm nearly 100% positive I could sell all of the stuff I'm getting for a profit. I'm sure a used B&A Street Boss intake would net a decent amount online.

I'm just trying to figure out all the little things that I probably haven't thought of yet.

If worse come to worse i'll just wait until the engine is pulled this spring or summer, take pictures, and bump this thread later on.

This used to be a good swap years ago before the aftermarket took off with good cylinder heads. The 351c 2v head is a lot of cylinder head for a 302(large port volume) imo, I've seen great results with them used on 351w combos. I'm not sure how the street manners will be with it since I think some RPM is needed to make this head work well on a 302.

The swap is the same as any other 302 based motor. The biggest difference will be the headers, they'll most likely be a custom header of some type.
