Chevrolet Astro van fuel pump

My brother has a 2002 Chevrolet Astro van. The fuel pump needs to be replaced. He wants me to help him. (Honestly I don't want to for several reasons, I rather not discuss at this time.) I looked around on the internet for a few minutes on a howto article for changing the fuel pump. I found one that was pretty detailed. With the article I found was a suggestion of cutting an access hole in the floor of the van above the fuel pump to replace it. I really don't feel like dropping the fuel tank. The van (and my brother) is a p.o.s. So I am thinking of cutting a hole method. Does any one know what the shape of the floor is like on an Astro van? Is it flat? I am open to other suggestions. I could park it in a field and set the van on fire.

Never really recommend this method of fuel pump replacement, but if its that much of a pile, go for it. pull the carpet up and check er out

Well its been put off for a couple of weeks until my brother can come up with some cash for the pump. I'll decide on method of replacement once I get a look at it. Perhaps my work will send me out of town that weekend.

Delphi is the way to go if you need a replacement pump, The warranty rate I track on those show a .5% fialure rate. thats pretty damn good considering we saw a peak of 50% on some brands
