CHECK engine light with long tube's.....

Would long tube headers and these cold morning cause an occasional Check engine light? I have new Bosch sensors installed, but thats as far as new sensors goes. Maybe I need to replace something else too. The car sounds like it has a cam sometimes too, runs rough and low idle.

1990 5.0 with 96,000 miles. Bone stock motor with long tube headers, off road H and flows. Only the past 3-4 days have I began to see the C.E.L. Im thinking maybe because the O2's are so far back, in the collector on the long tubes, they might not be getting hot enough and setting off the light. They arent heated ones, just regular 3 wire ones.

You do know that these are to have mid-grade gas or premium fuel right?

sounds like you put regular fuel in it to me..

idk

i thought the 4 wire ones were heated?

Yeah, i use 87 in it, but have since I got it. The guy told me its still at the OE timing. Ill have to check it, maybe throw in some 91 and see if it pops up.

Ill replace the IAC as well.

test them first, replacing because people give ideas will get costly very fast.Is the air tube still on the back of the heads? How long have the long tubes been in?

4 wires are heated with seperate grounds, 3 wires are heated with the sensor grounding to the pipe

When I did headers and exhaust on my GTP I got O2 codes all the time. At idle, the sensor didn't get hot enough to swtich. Once It started running, it would start switching just fine.

Just have someone block the codes (after you make sure they are O2 sensor related).

I am a big fan of bosch products.. but I have had a few o2's go bad that were like 2-3 weeks old.... I would see if you can get whoever sold them to you to warranty them and try swappin them out
