Check Engine Light Question on a 05 Pathfinder

I recently replaced the fuel sending unit and the check engine light is still on. It code reads as the same problem. I have removed the neg. battery cable and it went off shortly but then back on. Can anyone help me with this.

It is for the fuel level sending unit. It displays how many miles till empty. I replaced it and now the miles till empty is correctbut the service engine soon light is still on. I have drove ir over 300 miles since and disconnected the battery several times. It goes away for a couple hundred miles then back on.

A Nissan mechanic said make sure your fuel cap is on. Does that have anything to do with what your talking about, or a sensor along the same line as the fuel level sending unit. Thanks for all the help on this everybody, it is frustrating not knowing what the hell is going on.
