Just figured I would stir some shit up with (people who buy foreign) some facts.

Last year Toyota had more RECALLS than vechiles.

The Civic holds the record by far in TSB/RECALLS in one(1) model year.

Foreign quality is much nicer too....ow: ow:

For the record, I OWN a 88 Prelude, but I only got it for 100 bucks and very used.

Yep.... come to think of it... I didnt hear one word about Mazda recalls ALL of its rx-8 engines....

But you hear about GM recalls of bad wiper motors and trans issues.:dontknow:

If you think aboout it all car compants have fuck ups though and recalls. I work at a toyota dealership on the service side and i see some fucked up shit come in. i Also worked at a ford dealer fora LONG time and i also saw some FUCKED up shit come in. My honest opinion is any big automaker (ford, gm,toyota, chysler) all make a decent car. But also all have there fair share of problems.

From what i have seen personally Ford vehicles have gottn MUCH better in the past couple years. Where as in my opnion i drive the new toyotas and they do not feel near as solid as the previous ones do. I believe Toyota has gotten very lack in its quality control. I think Toyota is falling into the same trap though as all the big three, that is keeping up with demand and having to produce so many cars, i think leads to quality issues bcause they cannot keep up with themselves.

Perhaps they have more recalls, because they are more willing to recall for something much less minor than a domestic company, since they can afford to fix the fuck-ups they find?

The big companies have more recalls because they produce more. If you look at recalls per cars produced, Porsche is the worst followed by others you wouldn't expect.

rapid expansion is hurting toyota quality overall but it's still better than most companies. they will probably never get back to thier near bulletproof cars from the late 80's-mid 90's. i would also like to see where cable guy got his statistics.. better yet, how about somebody posting all of the recalls and tsb's from ford,chevy,toyota and honda for the last 15 years to compare

edit: to make this fair it should just be the top selling cars like the taurus,focus,cavalier/cobalt,lumina/impala,camry,corolla,accord,civic that would be a good representation

I've driven just about every make/model car made in the past 15 years, and the only one that leaves a lasting impression is the 2000 Lexus GS300 that i've been driving for the past few days. Not saying i'd go out and buy one new, but this car is just amazing the way it handles, stops, and rides.. not to mention all the bells and whistles. The car gets excellent mileage and is responsive as all hell and has decent power to go along with it.

Umm no, a recall is a life threating problem, such as faulty wiring, switches, or relay that can cause a fire. Tires that blow up, engines/trans that can blow up or air bags that deploy or dont deploy properly.

TSB are things that dont have to be said "out loud", but when a car comes in that has a problem (lets say for service), the tsb would then be fixed.

That's strange I had a 2000 TL and it was one of the best cars I've ever owned. In over a 100k miles from New it didn't start once dealer fixed issue never resurfaced & it had a brake recall (rotors). Both issues fixed in one day and when I dropped the car off they handed me the keys to a loaner Acura.

Our 2000 BMW has 115k miles and no issues yet My wife parents bought it new and we got it with 77k miles & it still looks and drives great (knock on wood) 33 mpg on my drive to Atlanta the other day

My 2005 F-150 bought brand new has 11k miles on it great truck tows awesome & it feels like a car but at 4k miles it developed a leak in the power steering. The fucking dealer took 3 days to replace the line and I had to ride in a god damn mini van back home & find my own way back to pick it up. Now the F-150/BMW/Acura are all in the same price range yet the ford dealer treats you like you bought a yoga

1997 Nissan Maxima I had ran perfect I sold that with 120k miles only thing to go was the front wheel bearing (May be because I put stickys on and tracked the car:dontknow: ) Other wise no issues. I got the car with 75k miles on it my brother in law bought it new.

My 1997 Toyota Tacoma never a issue

My 1978 Celica GT drove it to 250k miles only needed a clutch/Alternator

I had a couple Subaru that broke a lot by I was 17 and drove like an asshole

I also own 2 Corvette and even with the issues I love those cars to death & again I beat the piss out of them. I will say the 2003 is in a different league then the 1991 was as far as quality goes, It's come a long way.

Maybe it's the fact that they now build them in the US:dontknow: but the same thing happened with Mercedes
