Carb trouble

I have 351 windsor with a set of victor heads. The carb I have is a PROFORM 850 there is a terrible hesitation/bog from idle too wide open throttle. If ease into it's not noticeable. I've the carbs metering blocks are'nt that great. I don't have the money for a new one at this time. Just looking to try to make what I have work better until then. Any help is greatly appreciated.

what displacement?
how much RPM?
Assuming by Victors you meant the Jr's, if so how much porting, running volume etc?
What intake?

Windsor 357,idles at about 1000-1100 shifts at 6700 max rpm 7000. Yes they are victor jr's with a little bowl work and gasket match with matching victor jr. intake.

a lazy throttle(bog) is usually too rich-try a smaller pump cam first
stumble, hesitation is too lean-try a larger squirter before changing pump cams

does it have power valves? is so are they correct?
2"hg lower than vacuum reading idling in gear

Good advice.

I'd go about half of the vacum for the power valve. That 2"hg would give you enrichment anytime you crakced the throttle off idle.

thats the thing. some say 1/2 some say 2 below
I have heard both ways.

is this a street car or race car?

When tuning can you four corner the carb? 2 hgs below is a good starting point whats the jet size primary?
