carb question

I just put a Holley 650 Dp carb on my 302...previously had a 600 edelbrock.

question is....why can i see fuel dripping in the front 2 barrels and why does it load up on fuel. Also, to start it up...i have to hold the pedal to the floor or else it will sit there and crank with no fuel. I'm running a Holley red pump without an external regulator....any help is appreciated.


Btw..the carb did sit on a shelf for a year.

sounds like it needs a rebuild or at least a good cleaning inside

spray all the passages in the carb with compressed air, sounds like the primary idle air bleeds may be clogged up?

did you set the float level? whats the fuel pressure?

Honestly don't know how to....i'm more familiar with small engine carbs. The carb had maybe 300-500 miles on it and may have never had anything done since it came from Holley.

Thanks man....Im guessing the float is out of wack cuz the lock screw was loose when i got it....will advise if this fixes my problem.
