Carb keeps flooding

I just installed a summit brand in-line fuel pump and have acquired a flooding problem. I wired the pump to ignition on and everything seemed to be running fine. But i found that every time i shut the car off, fuel continues to poor out of the jets and fill the carb even after the pump is turned off. I did mount the fuel pump in the engine bay on the drivers side where the windshield washer bottle used to be. Does the pump have to be mounted below the fuel tank?

The float could be hung open or out of adjustment. It might be a good idea to lower the pump, it wont have to work as hard. What PSI do you have the regulator set at ?

If pump pressure was too high you probably blew the needle out of the seat...hence the float sitting on the bottom of the bowl.

Yes... check float level... check fuel pressure.. Adjust both. Tap the top of the fuel bowls(adjuster nut) with the end of a wrench, see if that loosens the needle/seat.

Set the float level to the bottom of the window or screw hole on the side of the bowl. Fuel pressure should be close to 5-6lbs.

I opened the carb today. I found what i believe was the power piston sticking. It was a piston/spring assembly that was held into the carb cap by a crush type press fit. anyway, i removed it and cleaned what looked to be carbon build up off the piston with fine sandpaper. i also found a little piece of metal or something embedded in the needle. after reassembly and installation i fired it up and she ran great! shut it down AND!!!!! No flooding!! I tested a few cycles and still good! I breath a sigh of relief. All i need now is a front fuel bowl for my Holley and i can take this damn thing off and put that on. Still glad i figured it out easily.
