Wow..... Wait a sec what are you trying to spell out here?

Me not knowing what your motor required, which if I remember was a basic iron headed low comp sbc 350, compared to my Alum head 10 to 5 comp Roller BBC that was dyno tuned with that carb on it.

I explained that vary clear to you and you said no big deal you would get it straightened out for your application. I stated and did not sell it with the intentions of tuning it to the new owners car.

There was NOTHING wrong with that carb........

No nothing wrong with it its just not tuned for my pontiac 400 and you had no info on what was done to it,not bashing, got a good carb at a good deal, thanks again ,its just time to get it wright for me,and thanks for the opinions on who to send it to but thats not happening, was hopeing some one who works on there own stuff could walk me through the steps and figure what has been done to it. I cant see putting 500$ into a 200$ carb cant afford it.Thanks guys

It's nice to know there are good vendors down here in FL. Anyone have any experience with him and Carters/Edelbrocks? Both Studes will have Carters on them. Of course I may just stop by when I'm in the area too.

Is the carb a mechanical or vacuum? They are pretty easy to tune, (especially holly mech.) I put a wide band on my car....well i should say the place i dyno'ed the car did. After it was all hooked up and car was running he looked at me and asked who tuned it before. I said i did, all by plug reading, vacuum gauge, and paying attention to how my car ran. I looked at his computer while the car was running and my air/fuel was dead nuts all the way through to 7200rpm's. He couldnt actually do anything to further tune it. Good self confidence boost for me lol.

i have a 355 sbc with an 830cfm carb w/mech. second's that i put on the car, had to instantly change the power valve, (normal) and i actually had to jet the thing up so i wouldnt be running lean. holly tells me that a properly tuned 750cfm would almost be too much. well, i have one, its not enough. I dont listen to hardly anybody about carbs. i have learned the hard way by my self. just because somebody working at a shop or anyone else in general tells you what you should use, youll figure it out yourself anyways in the end. just pay attention to plugs, its very important. And are you sure the timing is set correctly?

timing should be right on,the car acts right ,has a rich smelling exhaust and the plugs look like they have never been changed,im trying to borrow a leakdown tester and check that before i pull the heads and see whats what in there ,the heads were done by heads up in mt clemens,so it better no be valve related,i think maby rings never seated ,i have a few things to tweek but the carb is deffinetly rich.

So you wouldn't listen to Patrick over at Prosystems?

Easy bones!!! haha :)

If you're in the dark on a carb, and have no clue how to deal with it...you won't just figure it out in the end. :) That's like saying your gas tank will fill itself as long as nobody but you presses the throttle. ya.....:)

"Hello tech forum, my parts don't work right, any advice?".."Yeah...throw mud at the wall and see what sticks..it's what I did and my wall is covered nicely."

Somebody with the info you need will probably chime in soon. goodluck

yea i know its not going to ,iv been prolonging it for a while and hope to get it taken care of this year,im not touching that thing ,ill break it:punchball
