Hey all,

I'm posting this for a buddy I work with. He wants to know what it would be worth if he sold it as is and what it's worth if he fixed the problems before selling it. Below are some pics as well as all of the specs. I have ridden in this car and it's definitely fast and pulls hard, and that was on motor alone. Any info you guys can give is greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)

1983 Camaro Z28 380ci with 600hp, Ford 9” and a 6 speed

The Bad
-The engine has been removed for repair but is still assembled. I pulled the pan to look at the damage. I promise it's not a basket case.
-I spun two rod bearings on the same journal from racing a friend before the engine was warmed up which will require two new rods and the crank to be turned.
-There is a dent as the bottom of the driver’s door from me kicking it when I spun the rod bearing.

The Good
- Dyno proven 584hp with only 8.5:1 compression
-I built this car to be Twin Turbo’d with two GT42 turbos which I have sold. This car could easily make over 1000WHP if it was finished. All parts were bought to handle the power.
- Over $25,000 invested in this car and I have most of the receipts, engine build spec sheets and dyno sheets for the car and engine
-This car has not seen snow since 1985 so there is and was no rust and the floor pans are mint. I was a professional painter for 12 years so the paint job was done right but has a few chips.
-When I painted it I stripped it down to bare metal including the door jams, acid treated all the metal, and re-seam sealed everything.
-The interior is beautiful and is in very good condition.
-I have owned this car since 1994 and I have known the car since 1987

Its worth whatever someone is willing to pay. It seems he has a lot of money in it but with the short block being apart and needing work he's probably better off selling off the parts and then selling the roller.

WOW, Thats crazy...just looking at it you would never know all that was done to the car. Very stealth. Good luck with the sale.

Thanks Mike. The shortblock is not apart, I edited the original post to be more accurate. He took the pan off to assess the damage, but it's still together, just currently out of the car.

He won't get what he deserves. That's for sure. Diggin the Hawks 5" spoiler too! I am going to put one on my car if I keep it.

its a sweet car and def a sleeper, the sad truth is 3rd gens dont have a whole lot of love, and there are few that do love them that have a lot of money to spend on them.

Thanks for the replies. He obviously understands it will be worth more fixed, but he's just trying to get an actual amount of what it might be worth both ways. Anybody have any ideas? Keep in mind the money that could be brought in with the trans and rear end. Thanks for looking.

yeah and take the burnout pics off the net so no one knows how he ragged the piss out of it.......

lol I hear what you are saying, but honestly, anybody with a car that's built like this will have obviously raced it and beaten on it. There is no getting around that, pics or not. And they're just small burnout pics. Seriously guys, he just wants to know the value of the car. Again, he understands it would be worth more put back together and running, but he's just trying to get some actual figures first. :dollar:

Agreed Moneypit!, its worth 6-7 g's the way it sits , unfortunately for him those arent saught after much and sell fairly cheap. its worth much more than that for sure but with this economy of ours , its worth even less but i think 6-7 is a fair assesment sad to say hence the reason i will never build another car again, much much cheaper to buy one already done for sure!

Tell your friend good luck woth the sale brian.

by the way brian, did you ever sell you roller 97 camaro and that LS2 you where selling?

as it sits its worth more in parts he would be lucky to get 6k with a bad motor

Thanks. :)

Thanks for the input and the well wishes. :)

I still have both the roller and the motor. I have a couple people that are interested right now, but nothing for sure.
