Are machine shops able to use a that worked properly with an engine to balance a flywheel that is going to replace it? I've heard some places don't/won't/can't do this.
Yeah, balancing shouldn't need to be done, it's more to verify in my eyes. The engine likes to rev a bit and I know the flexplate that came with it worked well, but I'm possibly switching to a manual trans and want to make sure there aren't any big manufacturing variations that would cause the balance to be much if any different even if they're both sold as being "fine" for the rear external balance of an LT1. I've heard some of the aftermarket flywheels still need to be balanced even though they supposedly already have a stock or neutral balance (depending on what you order) from the manufacturer due to manufacturing tolerances. Or am I worrying too much (which is often the case with me :lol
