Can AODs hold a decent amount of power?
And with 4:11s is it normal for my car to top out at like 70-90 mph?

I think you will like it. I still run a C-4 in my car, but plan to put a gear-vendors overdrive behind it. Lentech makes the best 4R70W's, but man are they expensive. Easily $5500--6500 just for thr trans. Plus with the gear-vendors OD, i will have 6 speeds! Jeez, 4.56's? Are you running eighth mile or something? I had 4.30s and had to get rid of them, got tired of seeing the tach at 3K all the time....

My car has the PA full tilt trans and a 5,000 stall. Thinking of trying a 4r70w to gain a bit of cruise rang with a haha...street car 4:56 gears... IF so, How bad did it slow the car..?
The 4r70w is a great trans. I'd put the aod-e gears in it though, that way you can have your c-4 ratio's in 1st thru 3rd and then have the o/d ratio.
Ask Dpmagee how far an aod will go (i just built the converter)
Your probably very correct on the gearing...With a 4:56 first would be too violent and to fast.... Hummm.....hummmmmm
DUDES. uhhhh lidio has put these behind COUNTLESS motors... The green coupe he did with a cobra motor and an s trim went 9.60's and street drove the car all day long......UNTOUCHED!
As for my 4:56 & spool, I'm spinning 7500 in my 351... (for those who don't know), a motor is an air pump and NA motors love to spin to make power... It sounds nice too!!! I just don't want the added r's on the freeway. My motor is a pump gas motor. I'm trying to make it a driveable race car I guess...I call it a race car in disguise (as a street car)....????

a swap from a c4 to a AODE or 4ro70 or 4r70w is not going to negatively affect ET in the least. in fact with the deeper ratios of the 4r70w planetary it may actually improve your 330 ft times.
Id lay money down to say your wrong.. I'd have to believe the internals weigh more and a stock 4r70 has more drag than my full tilt PA C4 unit... Maybe I'll be the test bed!!!
