Buying a gun

I've been shooting guns for while but what all is involved in purchasing one? I'd to go out this winter and purchase a handgun. I don't want to carry it, it's just for recreational use. I've been told for a rifle/shotgun you can walk in the store and walk out with it and hand guns there is a whole check they do. Any info?

If you care a .22 rifle and a small handgun. Nothing to kill with, just "play" around in my back feild. putting clay pigeons on the back side of my motocross jumps and shooting those until the peices are about half the size of a dime is a blast....

Go to your local PD, ask them for a handgun purchase permit. They will give you the paper work, you fill it out, give it back to them, wait for them to do your background check, and wait to hear back from them. Then you go and pick up the permit. The permit is good for 10 days.

Or, you could just get a carry license and not have to worry about any of that shit. :D

That's just a handgun? Rifles you can walk in and walk out with it? No check? I'm just curious. I won't have the cash until afer Christmas

Shotguns and rifles you still have to fill out paper work there but yes you can just walk out the door with it unless your a felon or somthing.

you live in Ortonville? You have to go to Oakland County on Telegragh, behind the Jail main entrance, you see the records entrance. Go there and tell them you want to buy a hndgun.

Handgun purchase permits can be attained at your local police department. You only need to go to the county office to apply for the CPL.

I live in goodrich and have an ortonville phone number. My road is the dividing road to genesee and oakland counties. Actually now that I think about it about a mile down the road from me is the point there gen, oak, and lapeer counties meet

Just bustin' your balls, bro.:punchball

Just walk into your local cop shop and ask. They can answer all your questions and/or provide you with all the necessary paperwork in 10 minutes or less.

Good luck.

What would you guys suggest? I was thinking a bolt action .22 and a 9mm. I've shot 3 different rugar .22s and loved everyone.

BTW, Handguns is 21 ONLY if your buying form a dealer.

you can buy one from a friend at 18.

Unless they changed it.

I'd be buying used. Atleast on the hand. I've heard you can get a nice .22 and put a scope on it pretty cheap

you can get a .22 pretty cheap.

I'd like to get one of the .22 conversions for my kimber. which costs about the same as a reasonable .22 :( .
