Buick supercharger question

We have a 93 Park Avenue Ultra, it makes a rattling noise but only under 1000 RPMs. When I take the pulley off the supercharger the noise stops. The fluid is up in the s/c. No slop in the pulley, and it spins OK by hand. If it was the coupler going bad would I feel it, or not?
That's about where I'm at with this.

If the coupler were going bad, you would feel slop in the pulley when spinning it by hand. Maybe the bearings in the snout are going bad?

Would increasing the RPMs make the rattle go away if the snout bearings were bad?
I am pretty sure new bearings were installed a year or so ago.

Have someone bring the rpm up till the noise happens, and listen with a stethoscope

Check the belt tensioner as well

The 3800 is known for the harmonic balancer cracking, I'm not sure if it's a separate belt for the supercharger?

I had a former GM tech askl me to see if the rubber is seperating from the harmonic balancer. However, both the belts wrap around the balancer and the noise goes away when I remove the s/c belt. Maybe the s/c belt causes the balancer to shift? The s/c belt is closer to the motor on the car if that makes a difference.

mikesfastss called it...a defective harmonic balancer. $300 to R & R. The fact that the noise stopped when I removed one belt & not the other from the harmonic balancer still puzzles me.

You might have helped two of us...more good news-the repair show quotedme wrong, it's only going to be $250 for the balancer & he worked on the heater doors because they were sticking.
