Buffing it out???? what to use

So I finally decided to get off my butt and buff out my car. It hasn't been done in a long time, forever, while it cleaned up fairly well, there is a lot left to be desired. I just worked on the hood tonight, did a 3 step paint cleaner, then polish, then wax. There has to be tree sap or something in the air, the headlights and the hood have areas in them that feel like sandpaper...I'd probably get better fuel economy if I can get that crap off the car....I've heard clay bar 80 bazillion times, but that seems like it would probably take me 6 months to actually do.

Ideas/suggestions? I like to do this myself, takes my mind off work....

There's a thread going with Autolavish in the show and shine section. post up your issue there and marc will respond

That sand paper feel is over-spray from something. Yes, a clay bar will do the trick. It doesn't take that long to clay...maybe an hour. It usually takes me a little longer, but I take my time.
