Brodix Track 1 227 CNC - AFR 235

I have a 406 small block chevy, currently has Pro Topline 220 cast irons on it. The heads have a small 50 cc combustion chamber which yields me 13.5:1 with my flat top. Motor has a super victor 2925 manifold and a .643/.643 roller cam.

I'm looking into some new aluminum heads, and was debating between these two. The Brodix head Flows 316 - Intake & 227 - Exhaust, with a combustion chamber volume @ 68cc which will decrease my compression. These heads run $2,600 for the pair assembled.

The AFR 235 Flows 334 - Intake & 254 - Exhaust (all numbers at .700), combustion chamber size is 65cc. These heads run $2,225 for the pair assembled.

Both heads are standard style 23 deg. heads using all standard type parts with acception to maybe a offset intake lifter and rocker. 2.08 intake valve on the Brodix, and 2.125 Valve on the AFR

Just would like some thoughts or opinions on these heads, I'm more leaning to the AFR , for obvious reasons. Thanks in advance - Nick

Peak flow #'s don't mean as much as the numbers under the curve... Do you have the complete flow sheet of both heads? Most of the heads performance is going to depend on the supporting parts.... A head that works better for one guys setup may not always be the case..

The brodix m2 heads are pretty proven power makers when properly implemented regardless of flow numbers.I'd look around and see what kinds of ET both heads are running before making any assumption that the AFR or Brodix is superior to one or the other.

from what I hear the allpro 235 heads are very very badass when properly setup. The best out there. But a bit spendy.

yeah thats one of my main concerns, price! I'd like to try and get the best bang for the buck around $2,500 and under

My brother in-law runs the brodix on his SBC that runs 8.60's (8.80's NA). He fully matches them himself, though. Definitely good heads.

No way in hell would I pay more for an old Dart design when AFR just came out with a bad ass 235cc head. I know it's not rocket science but... I got a feeling AFR topped the competition this time.

Jury is still out on the 235 afr. Looks great on paper. If I was looking at a 235cc head though. I'd be looking at a proven 800+ hp allpro.

what about the new pro flier air/wolf 245 sbc heads done by chad speier.their bad ass

I am not terriably impressed with those numbers. But flow numbers don't always tell the whole tale. The allpro's 245cc SBC head is a proven power maker and in that money bracket I'd be headed to allpro and a reputable ported. Properly done LTFO
